Program Structure

Once you commence your employment with Queensland Rail, you and your supervisor will work together to develop the structure of your traineeship by completing a training plan.

The training plan will outline the theoretical and practical competencies you will need to achieve in order to complete your traineeship, as well as outline how you will attain these competencies

Your off-the-job training will ensure you gain the theoretical skills required for your qualification.  This training will be conducted at a registered training organisation, such as one of Queensland's TAFE colleges or within relevant Queensland Rail workplaces.

You will also perform on-the-job training as part of your traineeship, where you will put into practice the skills and knowledge you acquire while at TAFE.

You will also benefit from working directly with our experienced Queensland Rail staff who are highly skilled in your field and who are committed to encouraging you throughout your traineeship.  You will experience working within a productive team environment that values safe work practices that will add value to your traineeship.

Traineeships take up to two years to complete, however, it is possible that these timelines may differ depending upon your specific qualification and your attainment of competencies.

Completing a traineeship with Queensland Rail will significantly prepare you for your future career within your chosen qualification and will expose you to the many aspects associated with a globally recognised organisation.
