About the Queensland Rail Classic

Event Information
- Date: Sunday 21 August 2011
- Venue: Celebration Lawn, Roma Street Parkland
- Cost: $20 per person or $30 for a team/family of up to four people (all proceeds going to JDRF)
- Distance: 5.0km
- Start Time: All participants to arrive from 7.00am
- Warm Up: 8.15am
- Race Time: 8.30am
- Post event activities: 9.30am-1.00pm (rides, entertainment, food stalls and Prize Draws)

Parking
Parking at Roma Street Parkland is limited we encourage participants to arrive by public transport.
Race Start and Warm-up
All participants registered in the run/walk must assemble at the Celebration Lawn Precinct by 8.15am runners closest to the Parkland Boulevard end and walkers behind the runners. A short 15 minute warm-up will be conducted at 8.15am.
Water
One water station will be set up, at the entrance of TransLink's Northern Busway tunnel and one will be located at the Celebration Lawn Precinct.
Medical Support
Medical support will be present on the day. On the back of the race number you receive there will be space to write you name and emergency contact, please clearly these details and any medical condition that may affect you during the event. Please notify a course official if you have any difficulties during the event.
Please note that insufficient training, failure to pace yourself and disregard for the importance of taking fluids can result in life threatening conditions such as heat stroke and dehydration for both inexperienced and first time runners. Ensure that you are adequately prepared and take fluids at water stations throughout the course.
Baggage
A baggage tent will be available for your personal belongings whilst you participate in the event. Please check-in your items with the friendly volunteer staff. Please ensure your items are clearly labelled – tags will be provided on the day. All stored bags will be supervised, but no responsibility will be taken by the event organisers for any lost or stolen items. We advise participants not to leave valuables in their bags. All belongings must be collected by 10.30am.
Course Accessibility
All entrants must walk or run unassisted. Bikes, skateboards, rollerblades or similar items are prohibited for safety reasons. Children in strollers/ prams are permitted but must commence at the rear of the race start. Strollers and similar devices must meet Australian Safety Standards and have appropriate safety restraints. The course can be accessible for people with disabilities; however we ask that you contact us on ph: 3235 3556 to discuss further details.
Pets are not permitted (assistance animals excepted, verification will be required).
Event Cancellation
In the event of severe weather conditions or any other unforeseeable conditions the event may be cancelled. Please refer to this website for notification of event status.
Course Closure
The TransLink Northern Busway will be preparing for a 9.30am course closure, any participants that have not entered the busway by 9.30am will be required to return back to Roma Street Parkland via the route already travelled.
Results and Times
All registered participants will receive a personalised results email summarising achievements, alternatively results will be published online at queenslandrail.com.au from midday Monday 22 August.

All registered participants will receive a timing chip and race number, after registering you will be advised of two dates and locations where you can collect these prior to the event, alternatively you can collect on the day.

You can choose to join a corporate team or enter your own by placing your team name in the field provided on the registration page (e.g. Queensland Rail, TransLink, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Channel 7, or create your own).
