Queensland Rail is offering stencil artists the opportunity to have their art seen by thousands of people every day, through the Queensland Rail 2012 Stencil Artists Invitation.
Creative stencil designs are sought from eligible artists for submission until 25 May.
Queensland Rail Security and Community Engagement Acting General Manager, James Bailey said the Stencil Artists Invitation 2012 provides an opportunity for eligible artists to exhibit their artistic talent on a large scale in the public domain.
“The stencil designs will be used across Queensland Rail’s extensive rail corridor to improve the overall visual appeal.
“The new stencil artworks will provide visual interest for our on board customers and a vast space for the winning artists to exhibit their art”, Mr Bailey said.
The Stencil Artist Invitation 2012 is open and encourages the most creative work from artists with winning designs to be selected by an independent judging panel.
Selected finalists will receive a $500 prize and all entries submitted will be uploaded on Queensland Rail’s Facebook page where a vote will be conducted to nominate the winning ‘peoples choice’ design.
All winning artists will have their designs prominently displayed on the rail corridor walls across the City network.
Queensland Rail encourages all eligible artists to submit their designs by 5pm Friday 25 May 2012.
