The Cairns Tilt Train departed the scene and is now at Mackay station, where we are in the process of transferring customers to buses to convey them to their destinations.
A site inspection has been conducted and the level crossing has been reopened for rail traffic.
Queensland Rail Acting Chief Executive Officer Jim Benstead said:
"I am relieved that no-one was injured in this incident - any near miss, any collision, is one too many for Queensland Rail.
"At this time we are working to support our customers and our employees who are understandably shaken by the incident.”
