Queensland Rail has thrown its support behind the Yeppoon State Emergency Service (SES) group, contributing a rail holiday travel prize to the hardworking and deserving SES group.
As part of Queensland Rail’s Community Partnering Program, Yeppoon SES has been presented with a Queensland Rail Travel package valued at $744, which the group will use in its major Easter raffle to raise vital funds for the organisation.
Queensland Rail Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) General Manager Bernard McKitrick said the company was committed to supporting community initiatives through sponsorships, fundraising, donations and partnerships.
“The Community Partnering Program is just one of the ways we assist community groups – through donating travel packages, organisations can raffle the prizes to double or triple the value of funds raised,” Mr McKitrick said.
“The SES is a very deserving and worthy group, and I am glad we can play a small part in contributing towards the hard work they do to help Queenslanders.
“The travel package which will be up for grabs in a raffle includes a business class return trip for two on the Tilt Train from Rockhampton to Brisbane, as well as return coach connections from Yeppoon to Rockhampton.
“The funds raised will go towards specialist equipment and materials – resources which are critical to the operations of the Yeppoon SES.
“We are very proud of the Community Partnering Program, and we are fortunate we can direct our CSR efforts into causes we believe in, giving back to people or groups who need it the most.
“At Queensland Rail, we are an integral part of Queensland and so many in our community rely on us. Equally, the community is just as important to us, and our CSR efforts ensure the community knows how much we care.”
Yeppoon SES Fundraising Committee Chairman Cavill Heywood said the group was looking forward to seeing how much money would be generated through raffling the Queensland Rail Travel package.
“The huge benefits, which will be achieved from this most generous donation, will assist us in our fundraising activities and enable us to purchase much needed equipment for our group,” Mr Heywood said.
Queensland Rail’s Community Partnering Program supports local initiatives (under $5,000) that can enhance Queenslanders' way of life.
