Queensland Rail disposes of surplus assets including office equipment, general goods, plant and machinery through competitive sale processes such as public auction with auctions held in Brisbane and Townsville and at various other locations on a monthly bases.
Surplus assets including scrap materials, sleepers, rollingstock, wagons, locomotives and rail equipment when surplus to operational requirements are sold via a public tender process.
For some items Queensland Rail may also negotiate sales directly with buyers or offer items for sale at fixed prices.
General Goods and Plant and Machinery Auctions
Queensland Rail currently offers general goods, heavy vehicles and plant and machinery at Manheim Auctions monthly in Brisbane and Townsville and also at Hassall Auctions throughout various locations.
Sleepers
Used timber sleepers are disposed by tender. They are currently being sold to Denpaq and may be available for resale to the public.
Rollingstock
Surplus locomotives, carriages, wagons and track machinery as they become available are sold via a public tender and directly negotiated sale.
