Queensland Rail generally advertises for tenders or expressions of interest in the press or on the Queensland Government website. On this site, potential suppliers are provided with our requirements for the goods or services to be supplied.
After proposals are submitted by potential suppliers, Queensland Rail uses a fair and efficient tender evaluation process which adheres to the following principles:
- Open and effective competition;
- Value for money;
- Enhance the capabilities of local business and industry;
- Environmental protection; and
- Ethical behaviour and fair dealing with suppliers.
If you would like to know more about supplying Queensland Rail, please read the Queensland Rail Guide for Suppliers.
Periodically, Queensland Rail disposes of the following assets which are surplus to operational requirements:
- Sleepers
- Locomotives, carriages and wagons
- Motor vehicles, trucks and plant
These items may be disposed of at auction or by tender. Queensland Rail may also negotiate sales directly with buyers or offer items for sale at fixed prices.
