Queensland Rail is Queensland’s number one service provider, carrying more than 55 million passengers a year and connecting people and destinations throughout the state. Our commercial and community services are supported by 7,000 kilometres of track and management, maintenance, engineering and support teams across the country.
We offer five key products and services at Queensland Rail:
City network:
Our City network connects much of South East Queensland. It extends from the centre of Brisbane South to Beenleigh and Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast, North to Ferny Grove, Shorncliffe, Doomben, Caboolture and Gympie, East to Cleveland and West to Ipswich and Rosewood. The City network covers approximately 300 km of track and encompasses 145 stations.
Queensland Rail Travel network:
Our Queensland Rail Travel network plays an important role in connecting regional Queensland and offers the largest and most comprehensive network of long distance and tourist trains in Australia. Queensland Rail’s services extend along the Queensland coastline from Brisbane to Cairns and West to Charleville, Longreach and Mount Isa.
Our fleet includes the following services:
Outback services:
· Spirit of the Outback - Brisbane to Longreach
· The Inlander - Townsville to Mount Isa
· The Westlander - Brisbane to Charleville
Coastal Services:
· The Sunlander - Brisbane to Cairns
· The Rockhampton Tilt Train - Brisbane to Rockhampton
· The Cairns Tilt Train - Brisbane to Cairns

Tourist Trains:
Queensland Rail operates two tourist train services offering unique and in some instances ‘world renowned’ rail travel experiences:
· Kuranda Scenic Railway - Kuranda to Cairns
· Gulflander - Normanton to Croydon
We have also retained a fleet of steam locomotives and wooden carriages for special operations and charters
Network:
Queensland Rail's network business provides services to rail operators on our regional freight systems, including negotiating access to the network and consultation to provide alignment with freight market requirements. We work with our customers to help them achieve their goals.
