At Queensland Rail, we recognise and embrace our responsibilities to the communities in which we operate. As well as our commitment to safety, we also strive to have a positive impact through our business operations and with the way we engage with local communities, customers, suppliers, employees and society at large.
Queensland Rail has built a strong reputation for supporting the communities in which we operate. Our newly developed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) group is committed to building on this proud tradition.
Along with providing a CSR framework for the company to work towards, the CSR group looks after the following key initiatives on a company-wide basis:
Sponsorships
Our sponsorship mission is to establish a robust portfolio of relevant partnerships that underpin our iconic position within Queensland and strengthen our relationships with key communities. Queensland Rail’s flagship sponsorship is with the Queensland Rail Bulls Masters which is a non-profit entity whose aim is to utilise past Queensland cricket greats to help foster and develop cricket as well as providing community support, assist local charities and sporting groups through fundraising activities.
Community partnerships
The CSR group, through employee consultation, is in the process of establishing a number of quality, high-level partnerships with charitable organisations to be supported through activities such as fundraising, sponsorships and payroll giving programs. Employees will be given many opportunities to take part in all community partnership initiatives.
Historical, heritage information and community requests
Queensland Rail is a custodian of a story that extends all the way back to 1865. Our history is a living part of the organisation. The railways in Queensland were one of the major industries of the state, and with that much of the economic and social development of Queensland was associated with this iconic organisation.
Queensland Rail can access many collections throughout the state including the hundred year old QR Historical Collection at the Workshops Rail Museum in Ipswich which helps bring our story to life.
