February – April 2016
Queensland Rail will install protection beams on both approaches to the rail bridge over Back Woombye Road, Woombye. The protection beams will prevent 'over-height' vehicles striking the bridge, improve transport safety and prevent train delays caused by bridge strikes.
Back Woombye Road, Woombye, is the seventh location where these beams have been installed in the state-wide Bridge Strike Protection Program aimed at improving safety at low-level rail-over-road bridges.
Construction commenced in February 2016 with completion expected in April 2016, weather permitting.
Queensland Rail will endeavour to minimise disruptions to motorists and surrounding communities during construction.
The important message for drivers is to know your vehicle height. The maximum clearance height at Back Woombye Road, Woombye is 2.9 metres.
New warning signage will be installed by Sunshine City Council as part of this project.
