South Brisbane Station Upgrade

Project status - Stage II underway: landscaping and exterior restoration

Following the completion of stage one of the renovation and refurbishment of the heritage listed South Brisbane station, the next stage of works began on Monday 6 February.

As part of stage II of the South Brisbane Station renovation, tiling of the platform stairs commenced on Tuesday 13 March.
Work will be  carried out in stages over a four week period. Platform access will be maintained, although it will be restricted around the work areas.  Customers are asked to be alert for changing conditions and to keep to the left when using the stairs.

The focus for stage two is the exterior of the station with landscaping of the Grey Street plaza and installation of new signage, paving, seating, security cameras and other amenities. Weather permitting the landscaping is scheduled for completion by end of March 2012.

Customers will also notice the ongoing restoration of the station’s masonry, both on the platforms and the exterior of the building. This delicate and painstaking work will continue on site for several months after the landscaping is complete.

The station has clear access via the entry directly in front of the station building, however for your safety please be alert to any changed conditions during works.

We thank our customers and the local community for your continued patience as we build a better station.
