Central West System

The Central West system adjoins the Blackwater system at Emerald and runs from Emerald to Hughenden via Longreach and Winton over approximately 780 km.  Products carried through the system are primarily grain, livestock and containerised freight.  Freight traffic shares the system with the Spirit of the Outback passenger service to Longreach.

System maps divide Queensland Rail's network into four sections - North, South, South-East and Brisbane Metropolitan. Line diagrams detail distances, number of tracks, the type of infrastructure (eg. private sidings) and stations. In accordance with Queensland Rail's Access Undertaking the line diagrams are updated at intervals of no greater than six months.
