The Caboolture line runs north from Brisbane for 51.78 kilometres to Caboolture, with a connection to Nambour that runs for 54.064 kilometres, the northernmost extent of the South East Queensland network. There is a total of twenty bridges along the Caboolture to Nambour section eight of which are concrete with the remainder being steel.

System maps divide Queensland Rail's network into four sections - North, South, South-East and Brisbane Metropolitan. Line diagrams detail distances, number of tracks, the type of infrastructure (eg. private sidings) and stations. In accordance with Queensland Rail's Access Undertaking the line diagrams are updated at intervals of no greater than six months.
