Rapid population growth in South East Queensland, combined with economic and environmental factors, has increased patronage on public transport over the past five years with strong growth forecast to continue. Commuter patronage on Queensland Rail City services reached 65.1 million passengers last year, partly due to a distinct shift from private car to public transport.
Our ongoing capital works program is extending and upgrading our commuter assets and capacity, with major investments in new rollingstock, new stations, station upgrades, carparks and passenger information systems.
Queensland Rail and Queensland commuters will also benefit from upgrades to our network as part of the extensive South East Queensland Infrastructure Program Rail (SEQIPRail).
We are committed to achieving our vision of shaping the future of passenger transport which requires a shift from being traditionally asset-focused to one focused on delivering exceptional customer service.
