To ensure a better service, the flat top Motorail wagons required engineering improvements to the access ramps. To do this they needed to come out of service temporarily. Queensland Rail Travel apologises for any inconvenience this caused, but the suspension was only temporary and the wagons have returned to service under the following schedules.
The Sunlander
Effective from Tuesday 26th April 2011, Motorail has recommenced on The Sunlander to a revised schedule of 3 services per fortnight between Brisbane and Cairns in each direction:
- Northbound: Tuesday & Sunday one week and Thursday the second week
- Southbound: Thursday one week and Saturday and Tuesday the second week. Please contact Queensland Rail Travel on 1800 TRAINS (872 467) for information on the available dates for Motorail bookings on The Sunlander.
Spirit of the Outback
Motorail on Spirit of the Outback is available between Brisbane and Longreach in both directions twice a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays from Brisbane and Thursdays and Mondays from Longreach.
General Motorail Conditions
It is essential that every motorail customer obtains and understands the "conditions of acceptance" prior to ticketing; and that customers are aware of the importance of checking that their vehicle complies with the conditions. Please refer to the conditions of acceptance for full details.
Please be aware that if a vehicle doesn’t comply with the conditions then the loading staff will not accept the vehicle. Queensland Rail Travel will not be responsible for any alternate vehicle or passenger transport if the vehicle is declined transport due to non compliance with the conditions of acceptance.
