Introduction
Central Queensland has a reputation of being relaxed, peaceful, quiet and laid back. The authenticity of the experience and friendliness of the locals are recognised as being core strengths. The overarching ‘Central Queensland’ destination banner covers the tourism regions of Gladstone and Capricorn.
The Central Queensland region incorporates the Cities of Gladstone and Rockhampton and the 11 Shires of Banana, Bauhinia, Calliope, Duaringa, Emerald, Fitzroy, Jericho, Livingstone, Miriam Vale, Mount Morgan and Peak Downs. Statistically, the Central Queensland region is aligned with the Fitzroy Statistical Division (SD), although the Shire of Miriam Vale is not included in the Fitzroy SD.
