Moorooka - Bridge Strike Protection Program

Muriel Avenue, Moorooka

June – August 2016

Queensland Rail has installed a protection beam on the western approach to the rail bridge over Muriel Avenue, Moorooka. The protection beam will prevent 'over-height' vehicles striking the bridge, improve transport safety and prevent train delays caused by bridge strikes.

Muriel Avenue, Moorooka, is part of the state-wide Bridge Strike Protection Program aimed at improving safety at low level rail over road bridges.

Construction commenced in June with beam installation in early August 2016.

The important message for drivers is to know your vehicle height. The maximum clearance height at Muriel Avenue, Moorooka is 3.8 metres.

New warning signage will be installed by Brisbane City Council as part of this project.
