​Buranda station will reopen to customers and services on Monday 30 June, following a major accessibility upgrade. 

Queensland Rail's Station Accessibility Upgrade Program​, opens in new window will make it easier for customers to travel on our network whether you're pushing a pram, carrying luggage, using a wheelchair or injured, you'll be able to use the station with ease.

Key features of the upgrade include:​​

  • a new footbridge with lift access ​

  • full-length, high-level platforms

  • upgraded hearing augementation loops and tactile ground​ surface indicators

  • upgraded security cameras and lighting ​

  • new wayfinding and platform signage ​

  • accessible toilets​

  • disability-compliant ticket ​windows and parking bay​

  • improved seating and extended platform shelters ​

  • upgraded station office and facilities.​

Station closure and alternative transport

To fast-track construction and deliver the upgrade as safely as possible, the station was closed in early 2024. 

Trains will continue to run express through the station up until the last service on Sunday 29 June. Customers can look forward to using the new, modern, fully accessible station from Monday 30 June, when trains will once again stop at Buranda station.

Please continue to use alternative travel arrangements until the station reopens.

​ Bus service information

  • Catch a route 28, 139, 169 or 209 service from Buranda busway platform 1 to Boggo Road station, to connect with the train at Park Road train station.

  • To get to South Bank or the CBD, hop on a route 111, 222 or 555 bus, also from Buranda busway platform 1.​

Nearby train stations

  • Park Road and Coorparoo are the closest stations to Buranda and remain open during the upgrade works.

  • Buranda station carpark is closed and will reopen in 2025.
