Indooroopilly Bridge refurbishment and repainting project

Indooroopilly Bridge, nestled between the Walter Taylor Bridge (road) and Albert Bridge (rail).

Queensland Rail is refurbishing and repainting Indooroopilly Bridge (a steel rail bridge on the Ipswich/Rosewood and Springfield line) as part of an assets renewal program to improve reliability, operational safety and efficiency of services on the network.

The project involves cleaning, sandblasting and repainting the bridge structure. Scaffolding will be erected around the bridge in stages to provide safe working platforms. Bridge transoms (similar to sleepers across the bridge) will also be replaced. A walkway and handrails will be installed for ongoing maintenance.

Similar works to refurbish the nearby historic Albert Bridge were undertaken in 2016.

Contractor Eptec Services has been appointed to undertake the refurbishment works.

Normal working hours will be 6.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Most activities will take place during regular daytime shifts or during scheduled track closures. The local community will be given advance notification of project activities likely to cause impacts, including after hours work (nights, Sundays or public holidays).

Project activities are expected to continue until mid-2025.
