Stage 1 works for the Toowoomba Range Slope Stabilisation (TRSS) project were carried out in 2019 and 2020.
Stage 2 works were completed in January 2024.
Project overview
Queensland Rail invested $37 million towards stage 1 works, to ensure the safety and reliability of its network across the Toowoomba region. The TRSS project improved the drainage and slope stability at two key sites on the Toowoomba Range, to enable our network to cope with wet weather conditions more effectively and reduced the risk of unplanned closures in the region.
Queensland Rail invested $15 million towards stage 2 works, which involved embankment remediation works and additional drainage enhancements to further enhance safety and reliability of the western rail network and surrounding land.
