Our history

Throughout 2015, Queensland celebrated 150 years of rail in our great state.

In many ways, our expansive network of long distance, tourist and city tracks has played a major part in shaping the history of Queensland and connecting communities.

From moving soldiers during World War II to ferrying livestock and coal during Queensland’s massive resources boom and opening up the treasures of the outback to tourists from around the world; the railways have proved to be the backbone of our State.
