At Queensland Rail, our
purpose is connecting communities, something we’ve proudly been doing for 160 years. We remain committed to serving our community by transporting people and freight
throughout our great state.
With Queensland's population and economy continuing to grow, Queensland Rail is adapting service offerings and investing in infrastructure to ensure communities' needs are met. As
our rail network expands, we are leaving a
lasting legacy
for future generations.
Our services connect people with jobs, education, community resources, healthcare, and events while linking industries with ports to support crucial freight movement throughout the state. Here are some of our core initiatives in the community:
Community engagement
At Queensland Rail we aim to
proactively engage with our customers and Queensland communities through a
variety of programs
such as our Commuter Catch-Ups (CCUs) and our Customer
Reference Groups. To continually improve our rail
service, these programs
provide an opportunity for customers to give feedback, consult
on
changes, and participate in projects and events.
Our Community Engagement team hosts consultations
and engagement regarding projects and
upgrades. These consultations provide customers with a platform to give
feedback on station concept designs
and transport alternatives during station closures, or to share updates with
the community. Queensland
Rail
manages community feedback reasonably and efficiently,
ensuring
feedback
is
considered in planning and service improvements.
Community partnerships
The
Community Partnerships team collaborates with various customer, non-profit, and
government stakeholders to connect communities and deliver positive outcomes
for Queenslanders. With the help of Queensland Rail employees and volunteers,
we support partner charities
and community initiatives and
capture the historic story of
Queensland Rail so that it can be shared with
generations to come.
Community education
At Queensland Rail, safety comes
first. Always.
With a network spanning over 6,600 kilometres across the state, delivering
thousands of services each week, community members will likely encounter the
rail network in some way. The Community Education team focuses on keeping employees, customers, and communities safe. They deliver rail education programs to kindergartens, schools, and community groups across Queensland, emphasising responsible choices and safe behaviour on trains, at stations, and around the rail corridor. Community responsibilities
Queensland
Rail is committed
to meaningfully connecting with First Nations communities
and people on our collective reconciliation journey. By branching out our networks
and engaging with communities, we will build deeper relationships with
and respect for First Nations peoples. We will use rail to create opportunities
and share the message of reconciliation across the
communities
we connect to
build unity and generate more equitable outcomes. For more information, please

at Queensland Rail page.
Queensland Rail takes a strong stand against modern slavery by ensuring ethical practices throughout all operations and supply chains. Human rights, sustainability, and ethical procurement are embedded across our business activities to uphold these responsibilities.
