Frederick Street Bridge Replacement

Frederick Street Bridge Replacement - Concept Design

Concept Design Frederick Street Bridge - subject to change

Project overview

Queensland Rail is working to deliver a new pedestrian and cyclist bridge to reconnect Frederick Street and Mina Parade in Alderley.

The Frederick Street bridge closed to road vehicles in 2012, and to pedestrians and cyclists in January 2020 due to structural issues that were identified. The bridge was then removed in April 2020 to ensure the ongoing safety of the local community and Queensland Rail's infrastructure.

Queensland Rail has engaged with the local community, bicycle groups and local council to plan for a suitable bridge replacement.

Concept designs for this bridge are available to view below.

Project update

Queensland Rail is continuing finishing works in mid-2023 to complete the Frederick Street bridge, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Queensland Rail successfully lifted the new bridge structure into place overnight on Sunday 25 June 2023. Ash Taylor has also completed a beautiful new mural brightening the sides of the Frederick Street ramp.

Works to install lighting and safety fencing and screening will take place in August, depending on material supply availability.

The bridge is expected to be opened in late-2023.
