Queensland Rail has upgraded Cannon Hill station to improve accessibility and make it easier and safer for customers to use.
The upgrade is part of the Queensland Rail Station Accessibility Upgrade Program which focuses on providing greater accessibility to rail services.
The upgrade has been designed to ensure all customers can access train platforms via paths, ramps or lifts, without the need to use stairs.
Features of the upgrade include:

a new pedestrian footbridge with lift access

a raised section of the platform at assisted boarding points

upgraded hearing augmentation loop and tactile platform surfaces

upgraded security cameras and lighting at assisted boarding points

new wayfinding and platform signage at assisted boarding points

a new bicycle enclosure to support active transport.
The Cannon Hill station accessibility upgrade was officially opened in April 2022. We thank customers and the community for their patience throughout works.
Cannon Hill station toilet upgrade
The station toilet was due to be refurbished as part of the Cannon Hill station accessibility upgrade. During the upgrade, building condition investigations uncovered that the toilet building had sustained damage due to termites.
As such, Queensland Rail is progressing plans to address this and upgrade the toilet facilities. An accessible portable toilet is currently available at Cannon Hill station for customers during this time.
Work on the toilet facilities has been postponed until 2025, due to the construction currently underway at Morningside station. Queensland Rail will keep the community updated as to when this work will commence.

Cannon Hill station park 'n' ride upgrade
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) invested $3.4 million to upgrade the Cannon Hill station park 'n' ride in May 2020. The upgrade included an additional 80 car parks, as well as new lighting, CCTV and upgraded pedestrian facilities.
