Becoming a supplier

At Queensland Rail, we value the important role our suppliers play in delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable outcomes for our customers and communities.

We are committed to providing fair and transparent opportunities for businesses of all sizes to participate in our supply chain, with a strong focus on supporting local and First Nations suppliers.

Suppliers can register their interest and view current opportunities on our Opportunities page. Before registering, we encourage all suppliers to review Our Expectations, which outline the minimum standards and requirements for doing business with Queensland Rail.

There are several ways we engage with suppliers, which are outlined below.

Open market tenders (public)
Open market tenders are always advertised through VendorPanel, opens in new window

Closed market tenders (invited quotes)
Quotes may be requested through a closed market process

Expression of Interest (EOI)
An EOI is used when we need to better understand the market’s capability to provide specific goods or services. It would typically be followed by an invited tendering process.
Request For Information (RFI) / Market Sounding
A RFI is used when we need to gather further information about the market’s size, capacity, and capability to meet a specific procurement need

Queensland Rail panel arrangements
We may establish a panel of suppliers, where the goods and/or services are required in large volumes, on a frequent basis, or where better value for money can be achieved by accumulating the demand.

Preferred supplier arrangements are established through a public invitation to offer process through VendorPanel.

See our current list of panel arrangements.
